Yankee Stadium

Sign into DugoutLast week's backstage tour of Yankee Stadium was a lot of fun.

It's the last season for this original "House that Babe built" As the new ultra-modern stadium stands approaching completion right across the street...

We got into Memorial Park, which looks uncomfortable like a mini-graveyard than a hall of fame....Yankees' Monument Park

Then we got to walk the narrow dark Romanesque passageway from the locker room into the Yankee's dugout. The sign featuring a DiMaggio quote (above) hangs on the way in...

We sat near the Manager's dugout phone.

And we went into the Yank's locker room. Two security guards stood nearby making sure we didn't use cameras. It was more like a booth room. Each player has an open booth with a bench that locks for their gear and valuable, I guess... The pitcher's are on the right. Jeter's was down and to the left.

Press View Yankee StadiumWe also went up into the Press Box to see the view and got to see the Owner's box.

It was great fun to walk on the hallowed ground where all the great Yankee stars past and present had played...

(All photos by Me. Click on each for enlarged view and to go see more shots on my Flickr page. Here's the whole Yankee's Stadium Tour photo set).

How is it you get to go to these cool things? Are you connected? Or is it just because you live somewhere cool?

You forgot to mention that the Thurman Munson locker in the clubhouse is kept empty :(

heather...this is the tour of Yankee Stadium that is given a few times a day (I believe). I suggest everyone check it out before the stadium is gone.
