You're Perfect as a Pig

Shari Lewis, Lamb Chop and Big Bird state an important self-acceptance lesson for the ages...

So... Let's all sing along along with them...

"Forgiveness sake,
 Don't change a thing,
You're perfect as a pig!"

Saturday Quickies

Congratulations to my dear Julie Halston on her Drama Desk nomination!! And also to the legendary Charles Busch! That entire Divine Sister cast was completely brilliant... Show closes this weekend after a great run...

All Night with Joey Reynolds seems to have completely vanished. Poof! Gone! No mention of it remains on the New York Non-Stop website. Like it never even existed... Or something... Th show's homepage is still up but there's no explanation.

And speaking of friends... Listen to my friend Gavin Allen's latest Your Night track.

Just discovered Bank of America has been charging me $3 for bank statements that have included images of my cancelled checks. Bastards. I want a new bank... OK so I just logged in and after 5 new security steps changed to Online Banking... Problem is the format they use to show bank statements doesn't copy to Evernote... I refuse to get a printer.

Gawker has a clever short film of street signs... Worth a glance...NYC Arithmetic by Adam Abada.

Still finding my way around the Sidekick 4G (SK4G)... See Sidekick 4G Forum. I've been posting my reviews and questions on there as ToddKick4G. I think I love the Sidekick 4G! But am still working my way through it!

Caught the TVLand Awards Show on the DVR over the weekend. Liza did a great opening number! Cast reunions of Cosby, Facts of Life, Kotter, and Family Ties were all great fun!

I recommend podiatrist Marc Moser.

I recommend Opthalmologist Joshua Beer.

Can't believe it's 3pm already!!! Ack!

TGIF Music Break: I Can't Give You Anything But Love

Judy Garland in great voice...

"I Can't Give You Anything But Love"...

Friday Yeow!

Soooo.... My first day back to work after Spring Break and I tried to help my boss upright a two ton Paper Shredder. I didn't know it was two tons, and I didn't know it would land on my foot...

Ker Plunk... Yeow!? Xrays show a possible break on a big bone above the big toe joint...

So, I'm now on "Line of Duty" leave for a few days with foot up, prescription Motrin, and frozen peas on my foot... Now it's getting all black and blue... But these drugs do work pretty well... And I hope it's all better by next week so I can resume my work schedule...

So, here I am home with every perfect opportunity to prop up my iced foot and watch the Royal Wedding coverage...

But frankly, I'd rather drop a two ton paper shredder on my other foot than do that... I'm sure to see enough photographic and video-graphic highlights to make up for my current royal blast of apathetic indifference. Sniff.

A Coupla Dental Stories

A coupla personal dental stories come to mind as some friends are dealing with their own dental issues presently...

When I was a lad of 20, one of my wisdom teeth got infected... Dentist decided to treat with antibiotics and warned me that I should have all four wisdom teeth extracted because they were gonna be problematic for my whole life...

The operation for the two on the right side was completely awful and took a long, painful time to heal... An awful process.

Later, I told him I would keep the other two clean and free of infection and that extraction would never be necessary... He was skeptical.

Twenty years later, as he was retiring, he acknowledged that I was right... They didn't need to be extracted, after all... Just cared for...

In retrospect, I wish I hadn't had the surgery on the first two... Now 30 years later... The remaining two wisdom teeth on the left side are still there... And there has never been infection...

Along with regular brushing and dental floss or dental tape, I use this instrument (pictured at right). They sell them at the local pharmacy...

Meanwhile, I have had a fractured tooth (sensitive to cold and heat) for 15 years that has never required surgery, and a small cavity that was first detected by my current dentist five years ago... Both are still stable and don't need anything other than my extra careful hygienic vigilance...

My first Baltimore dentist whom I saw twice yearly from ages five through 40 still exchanges Christmas cards with me.

The moral of this story?

There is none.

I was just thinking...

And I look forward to my twice yearly dentist appointments and cleanings... I really do.

Rachelle Rak: Catch Her... If You Can

This is my Hell's Kitchen neighbor and friend Rachelle Rak... Now starring on Broadway in Catch Me if You Can

Read this Broadway World interview: Sas is Back!

"I felt like I accomplished more during this few year stretch of my career than my previous 10 years on Broadway combined because it was the first time I had participated in my career for the sake of the process, not the big payoff. Knowing that I have been a part of Broadway is forever, no matter where I am performing. My ears are now open to other worlds, where no one could tell me good or bad - where it doesn't matter. Show business for over a decade decided if I was good enough. They decided if I would be selected, if I was the right look, type, build, if I had the right voice to sing high enough, or kick to my face. And for the first time in 20 years of a career, these past few years I have decided. And it's invigorating, taking back some little bit of control that we never have as an actor and saying, 'I like me, I like this, I select me, and I'm going to give this a try because I believe in it.' And that's truly life changing".

Update on 4/28 at 10.30AM Rachelle Rak on David Letterman's show tonight and then a live Hell's Kitchen area concert at Bartini... Here's an update from Facebook: Tune in to Letterman tonight Thursday April 28th. One of Catch Me's stars Norbert Leo Butz will be doing his thing and Rachelle and cast members will be backing him up in "Don't Break the Rules. Then, if you want to see a sexy, fun and somewhat wild show come to BARTINI ON 10th ave. STARTS at 11:00p-ish.

Geeky Spring Break Coming to a Close

Today is the last day of Spring Break 2011. It's been good...

My Spring Break projects???

Got new glasses  Got the frames at Oliver Peoples... Similar to my last pair but a little rounder... Warhol-ish, the Sheldrake description sez. LOL... I got em in a light tortoise color... And not the yellow one that first comes up on that page link... And a little darker than the ones pictured at right...

Also, got the new T-Mobile SideKick 4G. I was there the first day it was made available, and the computer system at the store wasn't yet configured for it and the clerk had to do everything manually as T-Mobile is West Coast based and they were still having their morning coffee out there... Anyway, I've had to start over from scratch with Android... It's the new 2.2 version and so there are a whole new level of higher level apps available and so a whole new learning curve... 4G speeds are great, though!

Since, I no longer have a land line (and haven't for seven years or so), I spent an hour at the T-Mobile Store at 52nd/8th with Customer Care via the store's telephone asking and getting answers to my long list of questions I've compiled over the last few days... This new Sidekick 4G is a Samsung product and so there are many differences and features too from my last Motorola Cliq Android... And it's very different from those earlier four or five Sidekicks that I had over the years... This is Sidekick 4G is already superior to them ALL, and I hardly know what I'm doing yet!

So... If you see a guy wearing Andy Warhol glasses and walking down the streets of Hell's Kitchen with his nose buried in a new Sidekick, say... Hi....

Jeez, I'm such a geek...

Set the Tone: Nothing is Working Against You

"Any frustration you have is simply the result of wrong thinking... If you were thinking rightly you could not possibly imagine that anything was going 'wrong.' You would know that nothing in the Universe is working against you. By definition, given Who You Are, this is impossible... Move, then, to gratitude when you encounter your frustrations. And see every event as an Opportunity".

TGIF: You're the Top!

Sutton Foster and Colin Donnell in the current Broadway production of Anything Goes.

Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day 2011.

I'm hopping green mass transit to enjoy the quiet ocean air of Coney Island, the wildlife near King's Highway, and some local linguine and white clam sauce seafood cuisine for lunch...

Meanwhile, here's a Starfall Earth Day exercise you might enjoy...

What are you going to do on Earth Day?? At least turn off a light you aren't using... Unplug an appliance when not in use... Meditate.

Something!

The Graphic Impulse

Went to see the latest show yesterday at MoMA...

German Expressionism: The Graphic Impulse

Not really my cup of tea...

But was glad I went...

From Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (see image) to Max Beckmann, artists associated with German Expressionism in the early decades of the twentieth century took up printmaking with a collective dedication and fervor virtually unparalleled in the history of art. The woodcut, with its coarse gouges and jagged lines, is known as the preeminent Expressionist medium, but the Expressionists also revolutionized the mediums of etching and lithography to alternately vibrant and stark effect. This exhibition, featuring approximately 250 works by some thirty artists, is drawn from MoMA’s outstanding holdings of German Expressionist prints, enhanced by selected drawings, paintings, and sculptures from the collection. The graphic impulse is traced from the formation of the Brücke artists group in 1905, through the war years of the 1910s, and extending into the 1920s, when individual artists continued to produce compelling work even as the movement was winding down.

The exhibition takes a broad view of Expressionism, highlighting a diverse array of individuals—from Oskar Kokoschka and Vasily Kandinsky to Erich Heckel and Emil Nolde—who nonetheless shared visual and thematic concerns. Their works reflect a period of intense social and aesthetic transformation, and several themes of continuing resonance emerge. These include a focus on urban experience, an uncompromising approach to the body and sexuality, and an abiding preoccupation with nature, religion, and spirituality. Most pivotal for these years, however, was the experience of World War I. The war and its aftermath are the subject of works by a range of artists, including Otto Dix, whose series of fifty searing etchings, The War, was based on his own service in the trenches; Käthe Kollwitz, in a portfolio of seven woodcuts focusing on the devastation felt by the families left behind; and Max Beckmann, whose lithographic series, Hell (1919), confronts the violence and decadence in Berlin during the immediate postwar period.

I'm All Over the Place...

Woohoo! I just zeroed my inbox!! Been a looong time since that happened!!

I just did a batch of charity donations the other day... All to support friends who are doing marathons, walks, runs, and memorials... But, next time, I want to try out Givology.

I've been digging Hell's Kitchen's healthy and nutritious B-Bap Fusion Rice Bar lately... And I learned that I actually like Kimchi. 830 Ninth Ave., New York, NY 10019 Between 54/55th. New York magazine recommends: Wow meat dumplings, $5.50; spicy chicken b-bap, $8.50; noodle b-bap, $8.50; classic b-bap, $9... I'm hooked on the Spicy Chicken B-Bap myself w/ a side of Kimchi... It's all enuf for two meals... Seriously.

Need a good ophthalmologist? I completely recommend Dr. Joshua Beer.

Finally resolved a dispute with Virgin Mobile. Virgin Mobile is pond scum. They lied about the fact that I returned the modem and cancelled the plan well within the warranty trial period... Instead of wasting a minute on calling their sweet but helpless Customer Service reps in Manila, my advice is to just call your credit card company and file a dispute... That process still took months... And Virgin Mobile lied to the bank at every juncture to drag it all out... Save your receipts for the original purchase and your shipping return receipts til the credit card company asks for them... And that takes a while. Virgin Mobile are crooks! Virgin Mobile sucks! Is that enough search words?? LOL

I heart Field Notes.

How do you make a heart symbol in text? Alt + keypad 3 = ♥

On the agenda today... To start the eyeglass frames hunting expedition. Will start at Oliver Peoples on the UES... They don't open til noon!

Damn! I hate when businesses don't open til noon! I'm such an early bird! I like getting around before the traffic...

Modems Gone Bad

So, what did it take to fix my awful Internet connections??

Turns out the signal to my house is perfectly strong and acceptable...

It was the damned RCA Modem... I guess, like a tub of cottage cheese, they can go bad...

So, while the lights danced and it looked like it was perfectly fine... Once switched out for a new one... Viola!... It was the culprit!

Time Warner Cable guy that came here was awesome! Very knowledgeable, efficient, personable and fun. He helped with a few other complicated issues too... And even called a guy at headquarters to get answers to some of my more complicated questions...

My slow upload speeds?? Easily fixed... But only IF I upgrade to another package... (I wasn't even aware of tiered pricing. When I started it was a flat rate for home service and speeds were blazing...)

Also learned that Speedtest.Net is THE Speed Meter that everyone uses these days... With Speedtest, I'm pulling a 19.17 Download and 0.49 Upload... (Also, the Ping test shows an A for Line Quality, 12 ms ping, Jitter, 1ms, and a Packet Loss of 0%)

What are YOU pulling??

Please run Speedtest.Net yourself and put the results in the comments along with the kind of connection you have (Cable, DSL, Fios, Wireless, Etc... And location: New York, London, Podunk, Orangeburg, Babylon, Charlotte, etc...)

I'm just curious...

Monday Vacation Stuff

"Hurry! Hurry!" That's what I keep yelling at my crappy Time-Warner Roadrunner Internet connection...! It goes in miserable waves lately... But the latest tests on TestMy.Net are a measly 705 Kbps for Download. Upload is barely detectable at 70 Kbps. Am also yelling for the Repair Guy to get here.... "Hurry Hurry"!

There a zillion little things I was psyched to do in the chore department today... From updating my cel phone plan, checking my credit report for errors or fraud, and adding a few events and contacts to my Google calendar and address book... All these things need to be done online of course... And not worth doing at this rate of speed...

So, instead, I decided to soak and scrub a bevy of plastic toys that a neighbor was throwing out... Will clean em up and spread 'em around to my charges... But I'm soaking and cleaning em first...

There was a Wonder Woman, Speed Racer and a Superman in the batch... Sheesh. I dunno if I'll be able to part with those, though... LOL (I know what Wonder Man would say)

Found a new good Ophthalmologist today... My eyes are in great shape... No signs of cataract or glaucoma or retinal, macula, or optic nerve trouble... Opthamologists like that that I have a background in eyeballs... They love an opportunity to talk shop. Meanwhile my eye glasses still serve me well with 20/20 plus vision. Nice.

Next step in that process... Find some new frames... That'll move farther up the list once this damned cable guy gets here...

Passover starts at sundown. Quinoa or no quinoa, I wish all my Jewish friends a Happy Passover!!

Sunday Stuff

081Been meaning to post that for *the best haircut* in Hell's Kitchen at *the best price* in Hell's Kitchen, go see Peggy on Saturday's only... At Roosevelt Barber Shop, 882 Ninth Avenue, just above 57th Street on the the East side of the street. She's the Asian lady that works there (on Saturday's only!)... Only $17 (before tip)...

Spent entire day yesterday indoors doing stuff. Just as well the weather was horrendous... I don't even know how many thunderstorms trolled through... At least they weren't the tornadoes that some other areas got...

(Image of an artwork by Jose' Parla')

Got a lot done... But there's always more...

I killed a snake plant. Actually two... Frankly, I swear the repair people got waterproofing in the pot when they started working on the floor above me without the promised warning... And they were both out on a ledge... R.I.P.... And thanks for the restored window ledge space..

Need to get my T-Mobile Account squared away. They have a new Unlimited offer. Wanna see if it's better than my current plan... And I want to see what kind of deal I'll qualify for on the Sidekick 4G if it's indeed released this week as rumored... The fact that it has a five row keyboard is a show stopper for me...

Motorola Cliq always had a great feel but missed that fifth row. And Motorola never upgraded it to Android 2.0 as they promised multiple times. I feel suckered. And Motorola is now officially dead in my book. If I ever see a Motorola product for sale, it's not gonna be for me. I hold grudges like that...

I still haven't forgiven Human Rights Campaign for backing Alphonse D'Amato over Chuck Schumer in a New York Senate race.. And when was that? Like a decade ago? At this rate, Christine "Term Limits" Quinn will have a long wait...

In the market for new eye wear... That's on the chore list this week too...

I gotta patch a teeny tear in my leather couch... OMG... Who knew that the leather was sooooo thin of that thing!! "Stressed leather" means weakened. They should just call it "Easily Torn Leather!"!

Trying to decide about some new prospective projects... And what direction I want to go... As Lady Donothing would say: "What-do-you-want". Actually that was Don the Hypno-Therapist who used to say that... What/Do/You/Want... With distinct pauses in between. Always a good question to stop and ask yourself from time to time...

Organizing the First Saturday of Spring Break

I have a friend who literally goes right to the airport right at closing bell. She spends the entire time in a Puerto Rican hotel... And has been known to fly back and taxi directly back to the first morning of work after the break... Never understood how she does it...

Breaks for me are just as much about catching up as they are R&R... And my growing jam-packed list of Spring Break 2011 chores, events, and errands keeps getting longer and longer and longer and...

Started off last night with meeting up with some friends at the Renaissance Hotel. There's a second floor lounge there that overlooks Times Square like the bow of a luxury liner. The whole thing had a freaky cruise ship feel... So a reunion of an ol' cruise ship performer friend, from Santa Fe, (and her adorable cruise pax mother) made the whole thing even more surreal...

BTW, never order the pork nachos at that place... That's just a fancy name for pork rinds and had nothing at all to do with those fabulous Barbeque Nachos at Virgil's' a few months back... Never a-s-s-u-m-e!

Among the immediate chores at hand: Desk cleaning, de-cluttering, and getting bearings...

You get the picture...

Public Service Announcement: Mouse Trap!!

As the warm weather begins...

Wee little critters will be finding their way into every nook and cranny...

Here's a most humane way to catch your house mice.

I bought my own Havahart 1020 on Amazon... Just in case... Though steel wool jammed into all the crevices around the plumbing have worked wonders so far...

So far, so good.

Yummy Winkelvoss Twins Should 'Give It Up'

OK, Boys: Give it up...

I mean lit and fig...

This second Facebook lawsuit makes you both look greedy and petty. You already got your millions in the first case...

Now: Let it go...

Now... Do something that goofy looking Mark Zucker could never do... Earn a fortune directly from your own talent... Or for starters: your twin youth and double good looks...

Take off some garments and pose for a calendar, for starters...

OK, that's MY idea... So if you do it, I'll sue you...

How do you like them apples??

Or... We can come to "an arrangement"...

Call me, we'll do lunch and a test shoot... All sounds yummy to me.

Hell's Kitchen's Todd Robbins Gets A Free Lunch

Fun to catch ol pal and Hell's Kitchen neighbor Todd Robbins on Science Channel's hit series Oddities this week...

They rerun their episodes a lot on that cable network, so look out for it...

The description for this particular Coney Island Todd episode mentions something about keyword: lightbulbs in the listings...

Though the shopkeepers didn't seem to charge Todd for that particular luminous piece of merchandise...

In fact, they actually gave him a free lunch...

Have a look and you'll see what I mean...

A great feature...

Hell's Kitchen Eats

Mark your calendars!...

The 2011 Ninth Avenue International Food Festival, May 14th and 15th. Taking place in this annual event will be Ninth Avenue local merchants serving an array of ethnic foods which are representative of the different cultures in our neighborhood. May 14th & 15th 2011, 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM, 9th Avenue, New York City, 42-57th St., Rain or Shine!!

Meanwhile, this past week, New York Post saluted some select Hell's Kitchen eateries:

“The whole neighborhood is changing. There’s a younger crowd who likes finer things. They used to go [farther east] or downtown — now they don’t have to,” says Eric Hara, the former Oak Room chef who just opened two new restaurants on Ninth Avenue.

More high-profile venues are on the way: In June, the forthcoming Yotel hotel at 570 10th Ave. will debut a fourth-floor restaurant called DohYo, with the largest outdoor space in the city. And an outpost of London’s Cantonese hot spot Hakkasan will fling open its doors at 311 W. 43rd St. in November. Meanwhile, the promise of a new 7 train terminal at 34th Street and 11th Avenue is luring prospectors farther south...

Crowded with Action: Saturday Tweets Revised

A Hell's Kitchen Doorman wants to know why Cathie Black blames sexism. "She just needs to admit that she was the wrong person for that job"!

I remember eating in this here Galaxy Diner with DAAve from Texas. Seems like a few months ago... When was that, DAAve?

Thoughts & prayers for Nicomar. Still in hospital. Legs are working better but now a bladder infection. Hospitals are gr8 for infections!

When is T-Mobile Sidekick 4G coming out? Am interested. NOT committed, mind you. I'll want my old Grandfathered data plan back, when they talked me out into the Motorola Cliq that was about to upgrade to a new Android platform version, and never did...! Criminals.

Sheesh, a little Starbucks' Pike, and I'm a twittering machine! Will have to make a blog post outta these... Well, edited versions thereof...

Glad that Government Shutdown was averted, but we still gotta deal with the REAL deficit. Kill the Bush tax cuts! Close corporate loopholes!

Part 2: Dr Oz sez Sodium Nitrate links to Alzheimers. Nitrocimines affect insulin production in brain and damage neural pathways

Caught up with some The Dr Oz Show's on DVR. Important: 7 hrs of sleep, eat meals at SAME times each day, too much vitamin E is bad, & see part 2 above.

Sposed to get quite warm and springy later. I know, I know... Some people prefer that over frigid and blizzardy! (Idiots!)

I can feel the reaction to the pollen. It's that time of the year... I should start the saline nasal rinse mess as a pre-emptive strike...

Just saw a Hell's Kitchen Raw Foodie blogger walk by... Damn he's in good shape. Woof! But I think a gym has more to do w/ it than the raw food diet! LOL

Bought some REAL Maple syrup at Trader Joe's. Now I crave The Galaxy Diner's Whole Wheat pancakes. Will get an order to go...

I've never tried Pam Real Thai, Room Service, or Balkanika. Add em to the list. I gotta remember to rig up a notebook in Evernote...

Sipping a tall Pike at one of Hell's Kitchen's many Starbucks. Two good-natured gents behind the counter... Not the usual lady with the rather large chip on her shoulder!

Been a while since I took an early morning Hell's Kitchen stroll. Still nippy. Was shopping @ Gristedes by 6:30am & hit the fruit street guy

Blackburn Burger Bistro @ 9th/47th. Closed. Store for Rent.

New show is open at Fountain Gallery: Re-Creation: Artists Respond to Master and Modern Works. Til May 4th, 2011.

Peeked inside Westerly Market hoping to find it sparkly and ready to reopen imminently after a fire. It's GUTTED! Gonna be a while. Damn!

Flavor, the new gay bar on Ninth between 51st/52nd sez Closed for Renovations. Um. If it comes back, I hope it's more New Yorky and less Broward County '92!

I'm a gay man, and I support Planned Parenthood! Just sayin...

Pondering the New York Times

Flying off to work... But a coupla thoughts after reading today's New York Times...

I know that newspapers are struggling... But...

So sorry to see that today is Clyde Haberman's final NYC column in the New York Times!... What are they thinking??? I hope Haberman finds a new venue for his unique voice...

Reminds me that I still miss the fun and quirky New Yorky posts of Jennifer 8 Lee... Another dismissee many moons ago...

The Times also lost the legendary Frank Rich recently.

I applaud the rave review for Anything Goes' Sutton Foster by Ben Brantley in today's Times.

The NYTimes coverage of Michael Bloomberg's Cathie Black debacle is exceptionally well covered in today's paper...

Just pondering...

Go 'To Hell' Daddy Dot Com

Boycott GoDaddy.com! GoDaddy is done!

If you agree that GoDaddy CEO Bob Parson's elephant kill needs retribution... Here's a couple of ways you can speak up...

Visit DoneDaddy.com

You could write him a letter that if he wants a productive way to feed a village, that spending his money on sustainable food programs might be more helpful than a safari vacation/ blood bath...

You also might suggest that he try to develop technologies and innovations for the farmers to protect their crops from the innocent beasts that were driven from their habitats by other greedy millionaires like himself...

You can sign this petition on the PetitionSite.com... And mention these points, or make your own, in the comment section on the petition...

PETA has their own GoDaddy petition here.

If you have a GoDaddy hosted website, you can take your website and run... Namecheap.com is running a special deal... Transfer from GoDaddy to Namecheap.com: $4.99 transfers for com/net/org domains with 20% of proceeds going to savetheelephants.org. Go here for the deal... There are plenty of other hosts that would love your domain...

If you know of a website that is GoDaddy driven, drop them an email that a boycott of GoDaddy clients is also bound to happen soon, so they might as well get snug into some new servers before the mad crush begins...

PETA left GoDaddy in protest. You can too. You can also donate to PETA...

Set the Tone: Throw Out Trying to Foresee

"I don't know what's in store but I'm sure it won't be as bad as I can foresee or as brilliant I can foresee... But, if I throw out trying to foresee it period: It can be something I never imagined. I'm gonna believe that for awhile. Life, peace, the essence is in the moment, living in the past or the future is just living in the lie. And to all those I have told that I love, that is not a lie".

All Night With Joey Reynolds

Shooting nightly in nearby Times Square is All Night with Joey Reynolds shooting at the NASDAQ studios, and airing on each following night from midnight to 2AM on NBC's New York Non-Stop (Check your local listings for channel number)...

Joey Reynolds is proudly transitioning and expanding his hugely successful broadcasting career from radio alone into the added new video multi-media of Digital TV Broadcast, and web TV ...

No segment of this new and emerging late night talk variety program, thus far, has been as rewarding and satisfying as the first hour that aired on Friday night...

A tribute to American songwriter Ervin Drake, on the occasion of his 94th Birthday...

The well-focused hour demonstrated Reynold's trademark laid back interview style serving up light and lively patter with the legendary songwriter (and his devoted wife) about Drake's celebrated career.

Chatter was tastefully intertwined (by producer Myra Chanin's clever booking) with stellar performers of Drake's songs from New York's cabaret glitterati, providing a first rate 'show and tell'...

Ervin Drake's biggest hits have included legendary pop standard tunes such as "It Was A very Good Year", "September of My Years", and "I Believe"...

But the the most original and standout interpretations were of two lesser known Drake creations... K.T. Sullivan's brilliantly original interpretation of "Tico-Tico" was a marvel of excellent timing and vocal nuance...

 And...

...Sidney Myer's "I Wuv a Rabbit" with Mr. and Mrs. Drake mouthing along to the chorus rounded out a heartwarming and delightful presentation. The charming song was originally written for Milton Berle. "But he didn't sing it as well as Sidney Myer does", reported Edith Drake...

Saturday Morning in Hell's Kitchen

Good Morning from Hell's Kitchen, USA...

Still feels like winter around these parts, though next week is supposed to start the dramatic warm up into Spring. So March came in like a lion and went out like a lion...

Did you know Archie's gay buddy gets his own comic book? Meet Kevin Keller... Times have changed... LOL

Went for breakfast at the local Lenny's this morning. The young lady at the register remembered my whole order but asked "Where have you been?" "Eating at home a lot more", said I... "Trying to save money". "I know [what you mean]" said she...

Con Ed to raise utility bills by 12%... My housing costs went up 9%, and an added $200 per month assessment for the next eight month... I know my Time-Warner cable/Internet "contract" will be expiring soon and I'm sure they will bump up (never down) that monthly price...

Meanwhile, the billionaire Mayor has given us a 0% cost of living wage increase for a second year now and continues to bash all city workers. Charming fellow. Who voted him in for that illegal third term?? Which red-haired female City Council Speaker (and Mayoral wannabe herself), made it all happen?? ... Never forget!

Five Ways I Can Increase My Productivity? I reaaaallly gotta get going to organize and simplify my life with Evernote, Remember the Milk, and Dropbox. I've put my toe in each but I gotta get these things going to simplify my life!! It's all about organization... I just gotta do these things!... And I gotta learn to touch-type!

So here it is early Spring, and I can once again afford to lose ten pounds of winter weight... This is a regularly scheduled annual event... (Losing ten pounds is the fifth way to increase productivity!)

I stay happy by eating two Brazil nuts a day... The selenium is a mood enhancer...

And experts agree you should eat a fistful of walnuts every day

Meanwhile, I'm completely hooked on Trader Joe's Wasabi Peas... "Sweet green peas with a slightly spicy wasabi mustard coating". Product of Malaysia. Sez slightly spicy... I dunno. They are pretty spicy to me. But I like spicy!

I gotta go clean off my desk...
