Halloween Nor'Easter Coming

Big monster winter storm advisory posted for the East Coast...

Very unusual weather for this time... But Al Gore was warning of things like this quite a few years ago...

Frankly, I'm looking forward to a good excuse to stay in my apartment all day and stay in pajamas...

Sounds perfect after so many recent stressers in my life lately...

Trick or treat??

Ahhhhhhhhh.

Witchy Wednesday

Snapped this shot of two witches in a Betsey Johnson window this morning on the way to work... The reflection makes them appear to fade into the background...

That's a trick I wish I could do these days...

Unusual pressures on so many (all?) fronts...

And while I'm handling it, the surprises, twists and turns, and disappointments are unnerving...

Poof... They're gone?! Poof... There's the answer? Poof... ???

Wouldn't that be magical?

No poofs around here, though...

OK... I take that back... Poofs are everywhere...

And so is the magic...

Day at a time...

Set the Tone: Do Not Wait

"Do not wait. Do not wait for enough time or money to accomplish what you think you have in mind. Do not wait for what you assume is the appropriate, stress-free environment. Do not wait for maturity or insight or wisdom. Do not wait until you are sure you know what you are doing. Do not wait until you have enough technique. What you do now will determine the the quality and scope of your future endeavors."

Decker and Metropolis

Blue skies smiling over the Bank of the Metropolis and the Decker Building this morning...

The usual pumpkin pie dealer at Union Square Farmer's Market was terribly late in getting organized this morning, and so I tried a different one. Good. Not sweet... Like I like it...

Nice cool and crisp morning... Nicely autumnal.

No frost yet, so flowers in beds are often still in full bloom. Marigolds and stuff like that...

Though, the impatients in the tree beds on my block are looking leggy and pathetic. I say cut em down and put in some mums...

But who wants to finance all that? Not me.

Have a great weekend, peeps...

Pumpkin Pie and Andy Warhol

Pumpkin pie and Andy Warhol... A great way to start the weekend.

Just left a meet with a bunch of friends nearby...

Frankly, I don't know what I'd do without weekends.

They're always good.

The pumpkin pie from the Union Square Farmer's Market was not too sweet. Perfect.

Soon to market for apples and broccoli rabe. And other treats no doubt...

Enjoy your weekend!

Fascinating shots...

But a little creepy too...

Perfect for Halloween month...

The Gossip Litmus Test

In the Huffington Post... Dennis Merritt Jones writes "How Aware Are You of the Words That Come Out of Your Mouth"?

Before you gossip... ask yourself the following...

1. Is it true? Do I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that what I am repeating is accurate and true, or is it based on hearsay and assumptions that I or others have made without gathering all the facts from an impartial and reliable source?

2. What will I gain from repeating these words to others? Will what I am going to say be life affirming, productive and helpful to all involved? Will the world be a better place because I uttered these words? If not, why would I want to repeat them?

3. Is what I am going to say about another person something I would have the clarity, courage and commitment to say to their face, and if so, why don't I do so?

4. Will what I am going to say be using the power of my word in the direction of truth and love?

Times Square Thoughts

Times Square always seems fresh and remarkable to me. The crossroads of the greatest city in the whole wide world! I'm so grateful to live here.

Sending birthday wishes to Postal Lady today!

I love me the three day weekends... Although, I do have a bad habit of postponing the work related chores til the last minute.

Glorious weather here this weekend. Felt like summer.

I'm ready for Autumn weather and colors, though... I am!

Four day work week ahead...

How does one deal?

One day at a time! That's how!

Remembering Doris Belack

Rest in Peace Doris Belack. 1926-2011.

We worked together on a Children's Television Workshop series...

I was thrilled to work with her, having admired her scene stealing work in Tootsie...!

Here is the New York Times obituary for Doris Belack...

She was still working in her 85th year!

Biscuit?

A colleague at work has taken to nicknaming me "Biscuit"...

Dunno why?

What should be done about this??

Charm City

Had a nice day running around downtown Baltimore yesterday. Many old haunts and much euphoric recall... Here's a snapshot from the Sidekick camera that I took Friday morning...
