Grumpy Sunday in Hell's Kitchen and Vicinity

Well...

Took an early Sunday stroll around Hell's Kitchen and found myself completely annoyed at every turn... Been a while since the weather was conducive for a stroll...

Some angry dude kicking over trashcans as he strolled Northward along Ninth Avenue while cursing the world. Where are the cops? Really, just a single patrol car parked somewhere?

Garbage strewn in front of businesses that coulda cleaned up before closing last night... (Photo from Photo Bucket)

Bakeries leaving bread outside restaurants before dawn... Dogs pee there... Ew.

A restaurant in Worldwide Plaza Park left a bottle of ketchup out on a table all night... Yeah, I'm sure nobody tampered with that...

The guards at Worldwide Plaza freak me out...

At Balsley Park, the lady that feeds the flying rats every morning is now in the habit of leaving the seed right under the seats... So while you sit, pigeons terrorize you trying to get at the seed...

A homeless guy plugs his radio into a lamp post and blasts John Denver (John Fracking Denver!) while I'm trying to read the Sunday Styles NYT section at 8am...

I'm telling ya... it was a challenge out there this morning...

I used to enjoy the early Sunday stroll...

I'll need to find a more serene place for a morning walk... Central Park, perhaps? ...Perhaps.

Now... Pandora's New Age channel is on to soothe my assaulted nerves...

And don't EVEN get me started on the UFT teacher contract... Michael Mulgrew was all grins after settling his first ever contract last week (the last one was Randi Weingarten, FYI)... But the devilish details are that ALL the great raises he was trumpetting don't kick in for many years...

So, if a veteran teacher is struggling to survive in NYC with a long stagnant salary in the face of massive cost-of-living increases... Suffer longer... Much longer...

But they'll give teachers 2% and a $1,000 signing bonus (before taxes) in September if they are good girls and boys and vote yes... Not grinning here. Not grinning here at all. So, yeah, I'm in a major grumpy mood...

Could go over to MoMA to cheer myself up... But they want to tear down the Folk Art Museum... That pisses me off too...
